...CALLED AMAZING GRACE
Sweat poured off his throbbing brow,
He looked around, no friends in tow
On he went, stumbling with each successive step,
Bent over, cross on back, as daylight dutifully crept.
over the rise, I watched, hidden from view
a man of the present with a wonderful new crew
I mocked, laughed, scoffed and clapped
On he went, unheeding - my taunts around him wrapped
suddenly we were there - the place of crucifixion
drawn was I to this spot of divine ablution
my eyes were opened - I saw his tears
"Son," he said, "I have taken your fears...
Even as you watch my seeming great disgrace,
go, tell others that this is Amazing Grace".
